Emergency & Critical Care

AVS provides 24-hour Emergency Care with dedicated overnight staff so your pet receives continuous, expert monitoring and treatment around the clock, every day of the year. This is especially important for patients who have been admitted for Critical Care; our team is there 24 hours to continue the treatment plan set by our Board-Certified Criticalist and provide expert care in real time.

Advanced Diagnostic & Treatment Technology

We use advanced technology and deep clinical expertise to rapidly diagnose, treat, and monitor pets requiring immediate medical attention, from bloodwork and imaging to CT scans and continuous ECG monitoring.

Clear Communication When It Matters Most

We understand that pet emergencies are stressful. Our team prioritizes efficient triage and diagnosis while keeping you informed every step of the way with clear communication about treatment options, timelines, and your pet's status.

Seamless Coordination with Your Family Vet

Our emergency team works directly with your primary care veterinarian to share records, align on treatment plans, and ensure continuity of care before, during, and after your pet's emergency visit.

OUR PROCESS

How We Treat and Diagnose

Our emergency veterinary team is equipped to handle a full range of critical conditions and has access to advanced diagnostic tools on-site:

Signs Your Pet Needs Immediate Attention

If your pet is experiencing any of the following, do not wait. When in doubt, come in. Our team would rather see your pet and rule out a serious condition than have you wait at home. Walk-ins are always welcome, and no appointment is needed:

  • Difficulty breathing or labored respiration
  • Collapse, sudden weakness, or inability to stand
  • Uncontrolled bleeding or deep wounds
  • Suspected poisoning or toxic ingestion
  • Seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea (especially with blood)
  • Eye injuries or sudden vision changes
  • Inability to urinate or straining to urinate
  • Suspected broken bones after trauma
  • Pale, blue, or white gums
